You must travel to Costa Rica for bird watching and enjoying wildlife in general. 25% of the country is national parks and protected areas. There are over 800 species of birds. You can also spend time at one of the country's great beaches. You can do rafting, fishing, surfing, biking. You can play golf if you wish … Just go there! It’s in Central America and they speak Spanish there. Be sure to get two helpful books available on bird watching: “Birds of Costa Rica” by F. Gary Stiles and Alexander Skutch (Cornell University Press) and “An Illustrated Field Guide to Birds of Costa Rica”.
